I give much credit to Apple and their marketing department.
I give them credit too. Of course, marketing is a lot easier when you have a superior product.

Is a Saturn just as good as a BMW?
Or maybe that's not fair but then let's say Hyundai and Acura, because those actually ARE built from the same parts.
Come on, enlighten us.
I was gonna buy a bottle of Chateau Margaux for a special occasion. But then I realized that a $10 bottle of Robert Mondavi from Safeway is made from the same parts. The rest is just marketing.
It is beyond obvious that macs are superior. Everyone knows this. However, people that spent their money on a pc don't want to feel stupid for making the wrong choice, so they have no recourse but to stick up for their purchase till the bitter end.

Betamax was, too. If it isn't accepted and supported as a mainstream product, it's not necessarily the best choice.
lets admit it, macs are for people who want and need to look cool because they are insecure. Same reason women always need new clothes, insecurities
Thats why I got mine. I didn't feel my 5k time was fast enough or my junk was big enough. Thus I got a Mac. I've never lived happier.
I have a Dell Latitude D630 with a 7200rpm 120GB drive, 2GB ram, 2.2GHz processor, and fairly loaded otherwise - bought it last year for around $1500 with a 3-year warranty. It is built very solid. I have dropped it a few times and it's fine. The screen is great, the keypad feels fine, and it runs fast. I can get about 8 hours of battery life out of it easily.
I've been dealing with computers since about 1990. I used to laugh at trendy Dell desktops, but bought the laptop for their good ratings and reliability (although different places give you different stats). I run Matlab on it, Photoshop, SPSS, complex Excel worksheets, and it's always great and fast (all legally licensed versions of these programs, by the way). I don't know what it is about Mac's being more "fun" or "better for graphics." I have Adobe Creative Suite and could buy Sony Vegas for video. I realize FinalCut is nice, but really, the software avaialble is essentially the same, and you can't right-click a Mac, so how is it better?
I was VERY leary of Vista, but got it, and it has been a pleasant surprise. It does not add anything major (on the surface at least) compared to XP, but I have not had any issues with it whatsoever. Office 2007, however, I am avoiding like the plague.
Maybe Macs can be better, and admittedly I haven't used them, but I don't see how.

Maybe you should try using one sometime. Then you wouldn't say stupid things like "you can't right-click a Mac."

nice
I laughed at that one
Vista is eerily similar to Apple's OS...if Apple isn't better, why would Microsoft try to copy them?

Well, at least you seem to have found a way to be content being poor. That's good. Just keep telling yourself that people who like high-quality stuff and can afford it are insecure.

are people this ignorant? really? I mean if you don\'t like Macs that\'s fine but don\'t start spouting BS based on mid-90s computing.
You\'ve been able to right-click on mac for many years (since at least 2000).
As for dell, I\'ve personally had nothing but problems with them.

Oh, haha, I get it! PC is old, stupid, and very stubborn about how he does things (often crashing in the mean time) and Mac is young, intelligent, and good with computers . That IS a funny picture!
I just don't get why people get so emotional over the Mac vs PC argument. I have a Mac and I really like it, but that's my own personal preference and I don't really care what kind of computer anyone else uses. It seems like every conversation about which is better turns into a heated argument. People act like hardcore religious nuts when it comes to computers. Like it's their duty to spread the gospel and convince everyone that Mac/PC is the way. People act like anyone who doesn't use the same kind of computer that they do must just be ignorant. So my advice, use whatever computer you want and don't worry about what kind of computer the next guy prefers.
I think it stems from people asking which item they should purchase. Everyone makes their recommendations, but Mac uses complain about windows. Then PC users complain about Macs. And neither side really understands how the other works, so they spew information which is somewhat true, but not completely. Then there's this debate about who's smarter and which side is lying through their teeth.

I believe that it's a combination of a few different factors. For starters, some people are simply trolling in order to fan the flames for their own amusement. Others feel that it's necessary to punctuate their statements with personal attacks and profanity, because they somehow believe that these methods make their viewpoint stronger.
It seems to be an unfortunate fact of life: when you combine the LetsRun message board community and a computer-related discussion, it is a volatile mixture.
Mac lovers are like Red Sox fans. They are obnoxious and have to let everyone know how great their Mac/team is even if no one cares. Seriously, who the hell puts a sticker of a computer company on their car? I see those Apple stickers everywhere. It's like a damn cult. Macs are nice, but come on people. They are not that much better that you have to get all excited every time someone else buys one (and yes, I see this all the time as my roommate is a part of the cult).
Also, I could switch Obama with Red Sox and the analogy would be the same. Not knocking him compared to the others, but he's still a politician and definitely no Messiah.
Try to find a disgruntled Mac user. Then try to find a disgruntled PC user. Guess which one will have a higher percentage of users who wish they could switch?
Hint: it's NOT Mac.

.
I believe the original post WAS asking and does care.
In my experience PC fans are twice as obnoxious as Mac Fans. They will immediately tell you Macs suck and unlike most Mac user have no experience with them. I mean, how many Mac fans get basic windows info wrong? (like the dude who claimed right-click don't work on dem der macs). They also will quick to tell you how stupid you are and how l33t they are for their computer choice.
At least Mac fans recognize they are arrogant.
