Running America
Two ultra extreme marathon runners. One continent. A record-breaking run across
America. Charlie Engle and Marshall Ulrich have arguably run more miles under difficult conditions than anyone in the world. Running America is simple, not easy. Charlie and Marshall, covered by a world-class film production team from Nehst Studios, will set off in the West – at San Francisco. They will run East along a carefully mapped route, bringing with them full support services, medical, custom nourishment and equipment and an experience-honed system of safety checks. The film crew will document their successes, their frustrations, and their indomitable will to do what the rest of the world considers impossible. Their path presses across the country – with an estimate of 75 miles a day. Every day. 45 days. And the run will be broadcast live, over the internet, every day, every mile, until they reach New York!
Every mile, a new guest team of runners will join them – recruited on-line and drawing from the top running clubs in the world, military bases, and other organizations. The run will end in New York – celebrated by stars, former presidents, and throngs of people wanting to participate in history. The impetus for this run was Charlie’s spectacularly successful run across Africa, “Running the Sahara” documented by Oscar-winning director James Mall and narrated by Oscar Winner Matt Damon.
