Does anyone know of any 10ks that are taking place on the East Coast besides at Penn. I have a few guys that want to take a crack at the 3107 IC4a time but I don't know of any races for them and they obviously can't get into Penn.

what about the princeton meets? I know they host a couple.
you should have gone down to colonial relays last weekend. they could have tried there.
what about villanova last chance....2nd monday in may?
millersville university in PA has a meet this coming friday that we are sending some 10k guys to that are around that fitness so check that out. It's prob about the same distance away from you as bucknell was last weekend.
the nova meet (now hosted by swarthmore) hasn't had a 10k for a few years but I would be interested in running one there and shooting for around 31min if some coaches can convince the meet directors to host one.
Why are you trying to figure this out now, halfway through the season? Shouldn't a good coach figure out where his athletes can get into good races before the season starts, not a few weeks into it?

Yawn.
Not totally east coast, more midwest, but Hillsdale has a great 10k

My response: 1) Please tell me how your post contributes anything at all of positive value to the LetsRun.com community. It doesn't. So in the future, please refrain from such negative posts.
2) I'm well aware of the problem. We had the same problem last year and ended up adding a 10k at our place. Unlike most coaches, I do care about the guys in the bottom half of my roster. I'll probably start another thread on that to see if anyone is interested in coming if we host one the Sunday after Penn.
They have other races they can go to but these are guys that have no chance of running ic4as in the 5k (1435). I'd rather them give the 10k another crack.
Not sure if maybe the people who put on the Boston High Performance series could be convinced, but perhaps they may this year for last minute trials hopefuls: the link:

Good Luck!
I know it is the weekend before IC4A's but Allegheny College in northwest PA will be holding a good meet on May 9th. DIII and DII 10k runners trying for NCAA times. Meet info at http://www.allegheny.edu/athletics/invitational/index.php
The Icahn meet this coming weekend is supposed to have a 10k.
Why travel? Theres gonna be one on the south hill Next Tuesday the 22nd.
If you make a realistic call to Nova they will add a 10k. They've done it in the past when there is interest.

We're talking about guys who are hoping on their best day to run low 31s and as such don't get to travel a lot. The meet at Bucknell is usually the only shot these guys get at 5ks and 10ks in good weather with tons of guys to run with. This year the weather didn't comply, since there was rain and some wind during the 5ks and steady light rain during the 10k. And it was a little muggier than usual for a 10k. Not saying it was brutally bad conditions - it was fairly cool and the wind was only about 12 mph at times during the 5ks and only a puff here and there during the 10k - but compared to the perfect 40-45 degrees, dry air, dry track and zero wind we got for the night races at this meet last year, the weather sucked this year, especially in the two fastest 5k sections. A couple of our sophomores ran in the 31:20s and they can realistically entertain the idea of running under 31:08 if the weather is ideal and they can find the number of guys to run with that you get at Bucknell. A couple of other freshmen ran the 5k and look like they could make a run at the IC4A qualifier in the 10k if they can find the right race. Plus another sophomore was right on 31:08 pace at 6k and had his shoe come off for the second time after he stopped to retie it once and he ended up dropping out once he lost 20 seconds for those mishaps, so that guy would really like another chance.
Your post makes it sound like it's a snap to find good weather track 10ks where you're sure in advance there will be plenty of guys running low 31 pace and all you have to do is have one or two of those meets as backup races for the 31:00 hopefuls if their main race doesn't pan out. That would be nice, but it's easier than it sounds to schedule a few possible 10ks weeks in advance and make sure all the guys who want to run are free to travel and race on the same day without missing classes, violating any rules, etc.

just out of curiosity, what shoes was he wearing and how did he lose them? I had this happen to me last year and am wondering if it wouldn't have happened with another shoe. it is a popular one, so I figured I'd ask...

Are you actually calling someone out for making a post that doesn't 'contribute anything at all of positive value to the letsrun community'? Has it been a while since you've spent time on the forums? Half the posts here don't contribute anything positive - if you don't like it, change the format of the forums, it's your site.
There will be a 10K this Saturday at Icahn Stadium and on May 9th at Icahn Stadium. The May 9th race will be much better then the one this weekend.
Entries for both meets are currently open on directathletics
Meet info can be found at
