not this again
It'll be interesting to see who runs which races.
Steeple: Walters Muskingum.
1500: O'Brien
800: O'Brien
10k: Northern guys with the 1, 2, 3
5k: Basista or French (if French runs it)
Question:
Why the hell is the OAC meet a full month before Nationals this year?
It's a shame it's now the same weekend as Hillsdale. Half the distance runners in the OAC have lifetime PR's at the Gina Relays.
its because a bunch of those schools didn't want to have oacs the same time as graduation...trolls
I asked my old coach the same question. He said it was the presidents of the schools that made the decision, not the coaches or ADs. I agree with you though, its a lame time for a conference meet. At that point in the year, the weather is still relatively unpredictable as well, so that could be a factor.
I predict ONU gets the team win. O'Brien, Robertson, and the 10k army carry them to victory.
Doesn't the ACC have their conference around the same time? I think it's a great idea given their philosophy. Then you can keep the kids around who have a shot at NCAA and not have to bother with the "participants" any more.
technically this is good for anyone who wants to peak at nationals. With conference out of the way early, there are 3 weeks of meets to run some fast times. But for everyone else, it does mean the season ends early.
only 12 days til the "big" show!
what does anyone think about the 4x800?
it will be close. if ONU can get the stick to O'Brien within 30 meters of the lead they should be good, but their middle distance squad has looked a little lackluster as of late. I'm not sure their middle two legs will keep pace with those of Heidelberg.
I still call Jimmy O and his polar bears for the win.
ONU and Heidelberg's Top 800s this spring:
Jimmy O'Brien 1:50.87
Eric Porter 1:57.70
Joe Amstutz 1:58.03
Steve Darmon 1:59.09
Total: 7:45.69
Mark Childs 1:55.19
Hoogeveen 1:57.63
Lasch 1:57.94 (off a double)
Wolverton 1:59.74
Total: 7:50.50
If Berg wants to beat ONU in the 4x8, they need more production out of their first 3 legs.
Does anyone weawwwy think that O'Bwien is going to wet the Powa Beaws wose the 4x800 weway. No way sowwy chawie.
what are you guys, 12?
ONU: 7:43 ish
Heidelberg 7:45ish
O'Brien will probably get the baton with a second or two of Childs and we all know what will happen. Now if Lasch can drop a 1:54/1:55, Hoogeven and Wolverton run 1:56/1:57, then O'Brien might actually have to really drop hammer on Childs, but I don't see that happening.

You silly little dinks need to start your own OAC message board because no one other than you gives 2 sharts.

You'll note that no one holds a gun to your head to click on this particular thread.
so what are your top five in each event? 800?1500?5k? 3kSC? 10k?
800-O'Brien, French, DiRuzza, Lasch, Childs
1500-O'Brien, Walters, French, Lasch
5000-French, Basista...I don't think anyone else can run w/ these two except O'Brien
SC-Walters, Schneider, Thatcher, Cumbo, Simko (if he runs it)
10k-ONU 1-3, Gibbons, Castrillo
In general, I like your picks, although French finishing second in the 800 and then coming back a short while later to win the 5k might be a bit ambitious. To finish where you pick him to finish, I'd expect he'd have to run 4:00ish, 1:54ish and 15:10ish all in the same afternoon. Tough triple for anyone not named O'Brien.
Any one notice Thomas Adam from ONU ran a 4:29 1500 yesterday at Kenyon? That doesn't bode well for next week's conference meet.
You're right, he likely wouldn't do all three.
i think you forgot about the addition of Butcher, Hill, Ford? in the 10k... I would be surprised if Gibbons got 4th.
