Yeah sadly:( Every time the monkey that clings onto my back when I run, pounds on my head with his little hammer, I lose about half a milimetre of height. It really sucks.
If you started running when you were young you could affect your growth plates I would think, but other than that there's probably a negligible effect, if any.
Fat can only be burned during exercise if oxygen is used. Aerobic exercise, which uses lots of oxygen, is the best type of activity for burning fat. Anaerobic activities, such as sprinting or lifting heavy weights, burn little, if any fat. A combination of proper diet and aerobic exercise is proven way to lose excessive body fat. Reason for this is an average-sized person, running or walking one mile burns about 100 calories. Because there are 3,500 calories in one pound of body fat, a person needs to run or walk 35 miles if pure fat was being burned. In reality, fat is seldom the only source of energy used during aerobic exercise. instead, a mixture of both fats and carbohydrates is used. As a result, most people would need to run or walk over 50 miles to burn one pound of fat. So you need to overload and up the intensity of the workout every other day to get better results.

dude, can you read?
You guys have no idea how funny I find this. My teammates tell me to "lose some height" about 15 times every run.
im 6 feet tall. been running practically all my life.. cant say its done much to my physical development...
No, or I'd only be, say, 6 inches tall by now. Try the mushroom Alice in Wonderland ate. One side will make you taller, one side will make you smaller. Take your pick.
