In 2007 Ritz has 1) run 8:11 for 2 miles 2) finished 2nd at the OT and 3) won another USA XC title. I wouldn't knock him or Hudson.

Imagine what he could do with year after year of uninterrupted training? I am not a huge Hudson hater...I just think that he and Ritz should look at things objectively and make some changes.
Are you saying that he should not be expected to be doing that well or better by his 3rd year as a pro, regardless of who is his coach? Remember, he nabbed a bronze at WXC as a junior and was top 25 at WXC in the 12k just two years later and ran 13:22 that same season, improving from 13:44 the previous season. This was all before the age of 20.
Hudson will always have the haters because he spent a lot of time in Boulder. He will still have the winner this week. Theres no way Webb can run with Carney right now over 8k. Hudson is a GREAT coach!
What makes you think that he can run an entire year uninterrupted. I guess that you will always have to imagine.
NASCAR Guy: "Imagine how fast we could be if we didn't keep running into the wall."
... everyone knows how to step on the gas, but you need to know when to apply the brakes and when to turn the wheel.
Somebody on this team doesn't know how to drive, because they keep running into the wall - again and again and again. Comprendo?
Now, that's the TRUTH! I've known Hudson for years as well.
I have been critical of Dathan's decisions for 3 years.
I spent 3 years screaming about Dathan making 2 major mistakes.
1. Training at altitude.
Everyone said that I was crazy and the altitude had nothing to do with Dathan's problems.
2 years later He realized that I was right.
2. Training under Hudson.
I have been saying for 3 years that if Dathan wants to be a marathoner he should work with the Hansons. If Brian Sell (28:30 10k) can run 2:10, then Dathan (27:30) can run 2:06.
People here in Michigan told me that Dathan would never return to Michigan because he needed altitude. We now know that is not true.
he should train under schumacher in madison. start moving his career in direction it should have moved years age
How come no one rips on the Hansons when there runners are injured, or when they leave to retire or never be seen again. Ritz is too good for the Hansons, they would ruin him. Sell is just about a minute slower over 10k then Ritz. If Sell wanted to run his best over 10k it would be done off of 140 mile weeks because he's not fast enough to train for the 10k. Ritz beat webb over 2 miles, finished 2nd in the olympic trials marathon, and just won cross. What is wrong with you?

I think that would be awesome as well, assuming that Dathan was planning on staying on the track and cross-country.

Probably because the turnover rate should always be higher amongst 28:45-29:30 guys. It is rather simple, Hanson runners have a lot further to go to run 2:15 than 13:30-28:15 guys coming out of college.
uhh ... no one cares about 2 miles, webb beat him at 10k, he just won cross - but can't go to the big dance when it counts and if history teaches us a lesson he'll flop in Beijing.
ritz has a much better pedigree - so he should be destroying a guy like sell - based on pedigree, but he hasn't. his inconsistency is indicative of his adviser.
other than world cross as a junior, was has ritz done internationally in a championship race, except blisters, dnf, dns at world cross, and outkick rupp?
