So I am training for a half marathon in May. Four years ago I was a a D1 cross country / track guy, but ever since college I have not run competitively, and most of the time not at all.
My modest goal is to break 1:30 for the half. I have been running 4-5 miles regularly for a few weeks and every run has felt like terrible. On every run I have gone just barely under 8 minute pace, and was counting down the minutes until each run was over.
Yesterday was finally the run I was looking for. I was able to go 6 miles at about 7:15 pace while feeling great. I probably could have gone on for a few more miles, but decided to just pull up here.
Sorry for the lame post, but it just feels great to actually have a good run for the first time in four years. Now I can begin the real work.
For you half-marathoners out there, what was your longest run before the race? Do you ever go the full 13 before the race?
Thanks.
