The west is so tight, it doesn't look good, I'm worried.

If you want to ease your mind, start rooting for the Celtics instead. They've already for the playoffs.

No, I have been saying this for a few weeks on AZCentral now. Most there are delusional thinking that they will still make the playoffs, even go to the finals.
Amazing that both "my" Suns and the Mavericks are close to the bubble in even making the playoffs. 9 good teams in the West, 1 of whom won't be playing in the post-season.
It's too early to count the Suns out yet. They still have a
major adjustment operation going on. They certainly need to crank up their defensive style and intensity.
What about Dallas? Last time I looked they were in 4th place in their Division...
How many teams from each Division make the Playoffs?
Or is it based solely on overall records?
The top 8 teams from the Western Conference make the playoffs. Divisions don\'t matter on who gets in.
There are so many damn great teams in the west. I\'m a Nuggets fan and its crazy to think that a team with Carmelo and Iverson may not make the playoffs. They have so much talent it would be shocking to me. Then again, they don\'t play any defense.
The playoffs are going to be awesome to watch. I just hope someone besides San Antonio comes out alive. Man I hate San Antonio for some reason!
You're not going to have to wait until the playoffs. There will a number of "playoff-intensity" type of games over the next few weeks, with the number of good teams trying to make it in. For instance, I predict that both Dallas vs.Houston tonight(Thursday) and Phoenix vs.Utah on Friday night will be very entertaining matchups.
Houston might have the edge since Dirk Nowitzki is
serving his one-game suspension tonight. I'm sure
Dallas would like nothing better than ending the
Rocket's winning streak. The Mavs also need every win
they can to get into the playoffs. Amazing...
Yeah, it's so tight that there aren't ANY safe teams right now in the West. I think Denver is probably the odd man out, but I could also see Golden State falling off, with Phoenix also a "threat".
I Haven't liked Mike D'Antoni's style of coaching ever since he started in Phoenix. He doesn't respect defense enough and he plays his guys too many minutes. They get tired every year in the playoffs becuase he plays a 7 man rotation, max 8. Then they took Shawn Marion, hands down their best defensive precense (not to mention a young energetic guy that can handle the ridiculous minutes) and traded him away. Steve Nash and Mike D'Antoni are the same type of basketball player and I'm sure they can win in Europe, but not in the NBA.
they were a couple of bad calls away from winning it all last year in the NBA
If the Suns get hot, I say yes. But then I don't think the Timberwolves will survive and the Nuggets will probably be fried.
They traded their only decent defender away, Shaq is not a huge defensive help anymore and slows them down offensively. The Nuggets have the talent to make the playoffs(they just beat the Suns), Iverson is shooting 45% and really showing his positive side since arriving in Denver. And don't count out Portland yet, they have some great talent.
Who cares abt PHX. Only LA and NY are worth anything to the NBA. The TV ratings suck otherwise.
Actually, a lot of us care about teams other than those in NY or LA. But thanks for sharing your positive energy with us...
This ia the first time I can remember in any major team sport that a team with a .600 winning percentage is not going to make the playoffs. On the other hand, in the East, a team with about .440 will.

They are MILES away from as good as that team was. They look totally confused when they play now, there is no flow, and they don't know where to go and space the floor.
