My son is up there. Ran 25:28 at his first race last year and was one of the worst jv kids. Ended the season with a 24:03 season best. This year as a sophomore on the same course as the 25:28 ran 21:20, followed that up with 19:52 2 weeks later and still has some season left and is anywhere from his teams 5-8 guy depending on the day. He keeps improving every race now. He ran 5:50 in the mile last year and I wouldn’t be surprised if he runs 4:50 this year… super curious where he ends up.

27s junior year to 18s senior year
A freshman ran something like a 12:30 pace last year and dropped all the way down to like a 8:40 by the end of the season. Now he just ran a 6:20 as a sophomore, and still has a couple races left in the season.
24:59 last year to 18:36 this year. also got the last spot on the varsity team this year.
this school is also Drew Bosley’s alma mater
My PRs were pretty improved i'd say
fresh: 26:47 - 19:44 3mi / 8:55 - 6:47 1mi
soph: 22:55 - 19:08 3mi / 6:39 - 5:58 mi
junior: 21:09 - 17:24 3mi / 5:19 - 4:34 mi
senior: 16:47-? 3 mi / 4:34 - ? mi
18:41 to 16:42. Helped his team go from 6th in districts last year to 4th in the region (state meet)
Ran early season xc invite at Detweiller (3 miles) every year in hs.
Freshman- 18:30 - 10 mile week summer prep
Sophomore 16:30- 20 mile week summer prep
Junior 15:30- 25 mile week summer prep
Senior 15:02- 40 mile week summer prep
Some pretty good PRs from a teamate:
Freshman/ 5k: Didn't run / 1600: 5:38 / 800: 2:28
Sophmore/ 5k: 18:11 / 1600: 4:38 / 800: 1:58
Junior (Current)/ 5k: 16:15
59:18 5k freshman to 15:19 5k Senior.
I ran 21:41 in my first 5k in xc as a freshmen, and got down to a season's best of 20:26. Sophomore year, my best time was 17:44. Senior year I ran 16:53.
We had a fat girl on the xc team that went from 55 minutes or so as a freshmen to 29 high as a senior. 26 minutes is a lot of improvement in a 5k.
Kid made state as an individual yesterday
Aaron Devine (18s last year to 16:31 this year) and Tyler Mestery (18s last year to 16:47 this year). Both were on JV last year and got the last 2 state qualifying spots this year
This team brings everyone back next year so they could go to state as a team
