Does anyone know how many pounds you should way per 6 inches or something of that scaling system? I am 5'10 and just wondering what the average weight for someone my size is.

i way 160 ponds, but if I weight long enough I can wait much less.
2 pounds per inch is a good estimate for a runner
For a male: 2 lbs per inch is average.
Elite male: [(height in inches) x 2] - 10% of that total
For a heavier runner: [(height in inches) x 2] + 10% of that total
you kidding me? I'm 6'2" and weigh 160-162 and am very thin. If I was 148 which is 2 pounds per inch I'd be deathly looking and if I was 148-.1(148) I'd be dead. No one should ever be told to follow some formula for their ideal running weight.
What about on the other end of the spectrum--the short people. With 2 pounds/inch, a 5'2" person should weigh 124--isn't that a little much?
What about for females?

very funny indeed. im suprised no one else has called him out on that.
These formulae are crap. I'm 6 foot tall and weigh 140lbs, I know other people my height who are about 170lbs and not at all overweight.
I'm a 5'2 high school female runner and I'm just wondering what a good weight range would be for an elite distance runner. Is 95 to 100lbs a good range? Is anything over 100lbs to heavy?
Not as much as you spellt.

shoot for 83-85 lbs you can never be too thin or too tan or too rich.
I'm 5'10", you are saying I should be 140 lbs??
I weighed that back about 10 years ago, and was faster, but I also had no body fat, bulk in my arms .
I'm 155 lbs now. Although I'm much older, I look and feel healthier
so an average 6 1/2 incher goes about 14 pounds?
6.5x2+1.3=14.3
elites go 6.5x2-1.3=11.7
would you trade 2.6 pounds of hammer weight for a tin medal?
you guys are f***ing wack! i'm 6'5" and 155, which is pretty thin. If I used [hieght x 2] - 10% of that total I should weigh 140, which would leave me with a bmi of 16.x, which is classified as severely underweight. Elite africans don't have 16.x BMIs
...gently down the stream.
The best answer is: run at least 80 MPW for several months, and what you weigh at the end should be close enough for government work. That number will be different for two people of the same height and different builds.
Formulas are stoopid here, as they are so many other places, and the mirror would be better than the scale except that so many runners see a distorted image. So let's say the fit of your clothes > the scale.

I'm 6'2" and I'm 148. Robert Cheriouyt who won Boston twice is the same height and is 140. He is thin but he doesn't look unhealthy by any stretch.
A lot depends on your frame and bone size. for some 6'2" guys it is impossible to be that low.
Another thing to take into consideration is your height and body type. People (especially teens) look at celebrities with different body types than them who look skinny to them but the celebs. might be healthy and then the teen might go and stop eating and end up with bulimia or anorexia. Chances are if you run at least 3 miles a day and don\'t eat 5 huge meals a day (you know what i mean) than you\'re a good weight.
Tergat is about 6' and I've seen his weight quote from 125-130. He looks skinny as hell, but he has a small bone structure too which I'm sure cuts down on weight.
5'10" 160 here. Dense bones and a lot of muscle. 10% body fat.
