First I must say this is not a joke, even though it is pretty sick and disgusting-
To give you all some background- I have been running for 6 years now (I'm 17 years old turning 18 soon) and started training with the 800m. Now I've moved up to focus mainly on the 3000m/1500m. I have for the most part run lower milage- 30-40 miles per week with one period of 60-70 for a 6 month period.
The problem is that whenever I physically exert myself, or put any substantial kind of effort into a run (We aren't talking an easy run here) then shortly following the run I experience bad stomach pains and (yes here comes the gross part) have to make a run to the bathroom to relieve myself-
And not just one trip to the bathroom I might add, it usually takes about an hour or 2 for the stomach pains to go away and for myself to feel better... It seems that my system needs to like clean itself out after the run for whatever the reason- and I must say these pains are terribly uncomfortable- they only seem to occur after runs longer than 30 or 40 min it seems, never a short race but forsure in a say 10mile road race.
to give you some info- I do eat fairly healthy, I don't eat usually in the 2 hrs before the run and occasionally if I do it is very light ex-granolla bar, bannana. I try and drink plenty of water. I have found weather I eat or don't in the 2 hrs before my run it makes no difference- usually if I push myself in the run once it is over I am in severe discomfort...
I have seen a doctor about this problem- about 4 months ago, at first he thought I had an ulcer so I had a "barium" exam which didn't show apparently did not show anything..
I cannot think what is the problem except perhaps my appendix? my father had his removed in his early 20's ..and the fact that I have a hernia ? My father said this could be a factor...
- any advice appreciated
