On Friday, May 2 at 7:00 PM, Vassar College will be hosting the first annual Matthew Vassar Invitational. Under the lights at the new Vassar track & field facility, you will have the chance to compete in a 2-mile, 10k, or DMR.
While some college runners will be competing, this event is geared to post-collegiates. Most college runners competing will be looking for a last-chance qualifier for NCAAs in the 10k, and we already have a few post-collegiates coming to this event who will be running in the low 30:00s.
Our main goal with this event is to provide a fast race for everyone who wants one, so that you can be guaranteed some good competition. We are currently looking into offering prizes and/or prize money.
Entry will be $15 per person, $60 per relay team. Any profits will go towards supporting the new varsity track program at Vassar. Yes, in this era of budget cuts Vassar is actually adding a track program.
If you are interested in competing in this event, please e-mail me for more information.
