By way of background, I was a decent runner when I graduate college (3:46 1500) four years ago. I ran semi-regularly for a few years. About a year ago I began commuting to work on a bike and ran once or twice a week. I've put on 25 pounds or so since graduating. I'm 6'2" and now weigh about 185 so I'm not overweight but not as fit as I once was. About two months ago one of my hips starts aching gradually after 20 minutes of running. It's a sharp pain right where the hip rotates. It abates somewhat if I slow to a walk but doesn't go away. If I walk a lot during a day it may ache at night. I bought new shoes and that helped a little. Is it due to being overweight? Biking too much? Are there stretches/exercises I can do to help? Thanks.
