at this point Wariner is to much of a pussy to even try an 800. So pretty much a useless topic
wariner totally. he has 43.xx speed. clyde's training has an endurance element in it too. and dont give me those "El G ran 1:42 in practice" comments.
I hate you so much right now.

Why would you start training for a new event when you are going to not only win ANOTHER gold in the olympics, but can possibly set a world record in the distance that you run now?
You, my friend, are retarded.
Wariner doesn't run the 0.8k
look at it this way
El G split a 1:46.x close during his Oly 1500 win. Does anyone doubt that he could run 1:44.x or better in an open? That seems to be pretty much undisputable.
Wariner could probably run 1:50, but who knows if he could run 1:44.
This thread is no different than any other thread about Wariner running a world class 800 time, because there's no doubt that El G would have been a world class 800 guy, if not the world beater he was at 1500.
Hicham has wheels
El G in his prime would beat Wariner in a 600m dash. chew on that for a while.
Are we talking about El G "in his prime" aka on EPO... or clean, has been jog with Lance in NYC marathon?
The real question is could either of them beat Teg in a 10k.

Post of the century.
And for the record, El G would dust of JW like nobody's business in an 8... it wouldn't even be close to fair.

so it would be foul?

Yet another HS kid who is having a boring time.
Considering that Alan Webb--who is 4.5 seconds slower than El G in the 150--has run 1:43.84 in the 800, I'm pretty sure El G would have run at least that fast if he had trained for it. I seriously doubt Wariner would have enough endurance over 800 to beat El G.
El G could beat wariner right now with no training over 800m.

um...maybe. Wariner is 4 inches taller. But Hicham has the lung capacity of an elephant.

Horrible logic. El G was also about 4.5 seconds faster than Seb Coe, but does that mean he could run sub 1:40??
I believe that El G, in his prime, would have been good for high 1:42 or low 1:43, if not better.
It's impossible to tell, but given the hypothetical situation I think that if Wariner trained for the 8 and El G just raced him in his prime over 800 meters, Wariner would win. Remember the OP asked that if Wariner trained for the 8 and El G just raced it in his prime. Not if El G trained for it. So I would tip my hat to Wariner.
