how do you respond as a bystander or a paramedic to someone who is appearing that way?
water, sugar, oxygen???
Earplugs...so they don't hear everyone laughing at them!!!
The most shocking video of this type that I have ever seen was of a high school girl finishing the state meet and in the final stretch her leg broke at least two times. I can't remember which site it was originally on
If only he had a fanny pack on...

Why would the bystanders need ear plugs?
Tough question on the role of the bystander. If the paramedics weren't there yet or aware of the problem, I suppose it would be best to try to wave some official down. Obviously, you can't have a bunch of by-standers crowd around the body, but it would be horrible for the guy to die on the street while everyone stands there.
This is a good one, too:
" ... in a battle for fourth place."
Jesus.
I love it when they crap their pants, that gets me off big time.

Look towards the back at the 24 second mark of the video. This runner was a favorite but was injured much of the year and pushed the pace too hard.

AWESOME. I like how Ingraham is obviously ruined, too, but develops this freakish monster power-walk strategy to bring it in...and THEN adopts the crawl when she's grounded. Amazing. What a beast.
Can someone post up that commercial (Nike?) where the theme is "pain" and it has all of these athletes just breaking down...this one runner (triathlete?) pukes and just keeps running...a bike falls apart on the road...good stuff...
I believe this thread could be great.

That was at this past years Ohio State Meet Div 3. It was the same meet as the videos I posted above from the boys Div 1.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yaX1bAL6FeI1:42 into the video is when she fell. Note that the first girl across in the video had a time of 18:28. Stephanie Morgan had already finished more than a minute before in 17:27.
not running -whoever said golf was a gentle sport?
you guys think this is courage? its dangerous psychosis. this guy needed medical attention, and he's lucky he didn't die.
i bet if ryan shay had done this sort of thing and then died everybody on this board would be singing a different tune--"people, if you cant stand up, stop. running IS NOT WORTH IT."
jebus! get over yourself. obviously the people in these videos have no idea what is going on.
