he must have heard there's a 26 mile long 'line' down the middle of the course....
Who's Pete Doherty?
As message board poster Chuck D replied once -
so you read australian gossip columns. and then post links to them on message boards. it's posters like you that make me glad that this is an anonymous board. i just don't want to know who such people are.
Figure it was worth posting again.

well you d*ckhead, for starters, you must have found it interesting or you wouldn't have clicked on it. i'm australian, and i was reading through the news of the day when this caught my eye. seeing as this is a running board, i figured it was humorous and posted it.
the article:
"Pete Doherty
PETE Doherty plans to run the London Marathon next year.
The troubled Babyshambles rocker has already started training for the demanding 26-mile road race with his former landlord, radio DJ Ralph Bernard.
A source said: "Ralph knocked on Pete's door one day and they went for a run. Despite being completely out of shape, Pete enjoyed it and he's been out again and again. The runs went so well, Ralph suggested that Pete try a marathon."
Doherty, who is battling heroin drug addiction, has also been seen meditating and doing press-ups in a bid to clean up his act. - BANG Showbiz / AP"
so a guy who has never run before, out of shape, battling a heroin addiction and is training by running with his landlord and meditating PLANS to run a marathon. to top it off he got the idea from someone else and appears to have decided to skip those wimpy 5ks and go for the thon.
i suggest he sign up for the indy classic as the odds of that race being run next year are just as good as the heroin addict running a marathon.
An angry Aussie at that. Friendlist people I ever met and then you reared your ugly head. Don't get your panties in a bunch. Chill and count down the days till London and then watch your rockstar.
BTW - just because something is clicked on does not make it interesting. Your dribble for instance is not interesting.
Why hate on someone for wanting to run a marathon?
and that is supposed to change our lives how................ oh wait WHO CARES, HES A BUM!!!!!

In my 5 odd years of Letsrun message board reading, you come off as the biggest douche I've ever seen.
good for him...the addictive/obsessive personality will probably help him with the training. If it werent for running I bet half the letsrun community would be alchy's or dope fiends.

Either is your drivel.
someone's taking a libertine making statements like this.
Well, seeing as he's got an addictive personality, it might translate well to marathoning. That is, if he can stay off the drugs.
I think it's sweet that he's decided to do such a thing. I read an article on him in the rolling stone about him stuggling with herion addiction, so for him, deciding to run might be the best decision he's ever made.
Everyone just chillax. I think this is great as it reminds me of Joe Strummer's similar decision to run London in '81 and '84.
he wouldn't be the first to channel addiction into training. say what you want about him, but his work with the libertines was borderline genius (at least the first record). he's got it in him to do great things.... hopefully the 'thon will be one of them...
Like Kate Moss, for example
