My family and I will be in NYC for Thanksgiving. Any thoughts on what to do and what not to do? I know we will be running the Brooklyn bridge several times, maybe Central Park also. Attending the Macy's day parade also, any other suggestions?

I recommend you walk around midtown and stop and stair up, look at how tall the buildings are. Make sure you are standing in the middle of the sidewalk when you do so, as to cause optimum bottlenecking.

Skip the parade and go to the balloon blow-up on Wednesday night between 5-8pm. 77th and 81st Streets (both sides of the Museum of Natural History).
If you're still in town on Saturday, you could check out the Footlocker northeast regionals at Van Cortlandt Park.
Good idea, we had heard that this was great fun, we will have to try it. Which street do you think would be best....fifth avenue or perhaps the middle of Madison, no wait how about in the heart of Time's Square? Thank you so much for the help!!
Just in case you missed it....that was sarcasm!! My daughter actually lives there, so I was just looking for additional ideas. I do however appreciate the New York attitude. Thanks Malmo we may have to try that, we did hear that was cool.
Times Square for sure. A woman I talked to on the subway told me she was knocked face-first to the ground there while standing around looking at stuff. It's great fun, especially for the kiddos.
I actually recommend 5th Ave, preferably in the 50s. This optimizes both window traffic (Bloomingdales, Bergdorf, etc), and also the Apple Store, FAO Schwartz and Tiffany's. You could also swing by the Niketown while you're there.

Maybe she shouldn't have been standing around looking at stuff.

And the next day come back to Van Cortlandt to run in the NYRR 15K cross country race.
Unfortunately we'll miss both races as we are headed back out of town on Saturday. Dang, I would have loved to run out at Van Cortlandt.
