While it has little to NO bearing on the subject at hand, I would like to hear from all those folks out there that have an interest in Div. I men's XC programs in the US that do not sponsor a men's track and field program.
Please rank your top ten nationally...but I beg of you to please, please do your homework first and keep in mind that though a school does not sponsor the sport of track and field it's men's cross country team is allowed (via NCAA) to compete in 5 track & field meets (indoor & outdoor combined). Anything over this number and your institution does indeed sponsor the sport (indoor or outdoor). Look closely at the rosters of the teams that have been mentioned previously on this web-site, do you see a sprinter, a thrower or jumper listed? If so, folks that is a track team and I can assure that the institution sponsors the sport on the Div. I level.
A month or so ago this same question was posed and some replies included Portland and Iona (Div. I cross country only). Have you by chance had the opportunity to check out their school's athletic web-site in the past four years?
This pose is not intended to injure or embarrass any institution...but to gain leverage in the the never-ending
struggle to add men's track & field to an institution that already supports men's cross country.
