My roommate told me about an art exhibit she visited in Vancouver, BC (Canada) that featured a grad student who's PhD thesis was to dedicate a year to training for a 4 minute mile. Long story short, he documented all his training, video taped the attempt and ran about 3:58. He wasn't fat to start out, but definitely not in fantastic shape either. His name is Jamie Hilder. Most complete story I can find is here:
I really want to see the video and I'm sure many of you do too, so someone please find it. This happened from Jan 1 to Dec 31 2006 and the exhibit was on display for a couple months beginning January 2007 in a legitimate art institute apparently (Emily Carr Institute of Art).
I was skeptical at first, but at this point I'm pretty convinced it's true (still want to see video). Nothing I've found online yet gives the results of his training but my roommmate assures me the video in the exhibit is uncut and has a timer as shows he ran a 3:58ish.
Whatchya'll think? Anyone actually seen this?
