A lot of people have totally the wrong impression of Seb. Picture the scene: 1986 Euro Champs in Stuttgart. A dozen Brits (mostly sprinters) being picked up from the hotel to go to the stadium for a track session. The driver's directions are hopeless and the group are getting annoyed. The driver is lost, stops the minibus and gets out to ask someone the way. At that momement one of the Brits jumps into the driving seat to the cheers of his fellow athletes and sets off with the driver chasing after his vehicle shaking his fist angrily. 20 mins later the minibus pulls in to the stadium car park and the ersatz driver hands the keys to an irate, but perplexed British team manager. Who was that replacement driver: Christie? Thompson? nah somebody with the middle name Newbold - who'd have thought it.
