this is why i hate reading threads of uninformed people debating things about which they have no idea. the better thing to debate is what the judges in the 9th circuit disagreed about: whether the search was warranted under the circumstances. i know this is probably asking a lot - gosh, why would people on letsrun want to be informed before they spout off? - but i recommend actually reading the opinion.

at any rate, to boil it down to the basics, schools and school officials have a higher level of care and responsibility than a babysitter - one that includes not only the safekeeping of your child but all the other children in the school. i'm sorry if you don't accept the difference but that's the legal framework that they work under.
