Bob's times are great. If they weren't, they wouldn't be the current American Records. However, when someone like Teg comes out of nowhere one year to run 13:04 and 7:32, HUGE PRs from the previous year, it is only reasonable to expect him to run that little bit faster sooner or later. Anyone who doesn't think Alan has a shot at both the 3000 and 5000 is a fool. He's got a freakin' 3:46 mile and 27:34 10K PR. I guarentee you that if/when he decides to focus more on the 5000 (hopefully not for a while), he will run faster than 12:58. He ran 13:10 when he was a 3:50 miler and before he had even run the 10000m.
And people may have forgotten, but even Ryan Hall looked like he had a legitimate shot at both the 5000 and 10000 AR after his 59 and 2:07. He ran what? 13:14 or something back before he was killin it on the road.
Overall I'd say BK's records DO get respect, but we've had a lot of rising talent recently and it's only natural to expect his records to go down in the next 5 years with the performances we've seen out of America's runners.
