I have bet with a co worker that someone has run 10000 or more miles in a year. I'm thinking Gerry Lindgren or maybe dean K or some other ultra guy. Anyone know?

Lydiard used to do crazy mileage while determining his methods.
Lindgren claimed 200-250 a wek. Also the Chinese have claimed very high weeks. But I have never seen a record for a year total.
Back in 1996 Runnersworld (still a great mag back then...I remember this issue had extensive world champs coverage, a great article about Bob Kennedy's career, and a lengthy interview with Michael Johnson) had a short article about Joe Schlereth who had run 9200 miles or so the year before. I do remember that it was 173 miles per week. He was an ultrarunner who was decent but nothing incredible.
