At the end of my long run last week I tripped over a tree root. I tumbled, got a cut on my forehead, stratches on my back, and a bump on my right knee. Every injury seemed pretty minor, but now, eight days later I still can't run. My right knee can't support the same weight as my left so when I try to run I wobble a bit and feel minor pain. While it's still tender to the touch the knee feels fine when I walk. I've iced and generally stayed off my feet (aside from a few attempts to run) over the last week. But in eight days, the swelling hasn't gone down at all and the knee is still relatively weak.
Has anyone had a similar problem where a seemingly minor injury just won't go away? Any advice? Should I try to run through the injury or contine to rest?
