I think that the Satch obama was close. They are all official US national champs (whether AAU, TAC, or USATF). Note that prior to 1992, the national championships were separate from the Olympic trials. Here is a link to TFN's history of the national championships.

Oh. That's kind of boring. It might have been cooler if it really was all foreigners who had won USATF. Because without ANY American guys, USATF would be the furthest from many people's minds.
My first list only contained non USAers and I thought it would be an impossible leap to the answer so a picked a few of the Americans and made the list and answer first placers only.
