It would have been great to see three brown women finish between the two black women and the four white women, just from an aesthetic point of view.

DUDE.. its a freaking bronze medal... do you remember the bronze medalists from 95 or 99.. NOPE!
And the color of your World Champ medal is....?
Yea I thought so
The people on this and other messageboard are sad. They slam American distance runners for not being able to compete with the rest of the world then when they do win a medal jerks like you come on here and slam a bronze medal performance. I think it is safe to say that all of us sitting at home in the USA in front of our computer screens would give our left nut(I assume most on the board are males at least it seems that way) too even be there at the World Champs. Congrats Ms Goucher and Coach Salazar for a job well done.
I agree, wise bro. Left to right, dark to light.
Way to go Kara!!!

Exactly, I'd think we'd all agree on this.
Why would anyone believe that the testers have finally caught up with the dopers? Are you all in kindergarten?

I couldn't tell you the gold medalists for those years either.

AlSal would know wouldn't he? He was Slaney's coach when Slaney finally got busted.
you guys are crazy if you think the gouchers would EVER dope...they work harder than anyone else and are CLEAN. Kara i am so proud of you, it was like you could feel the vindication for all the injuries and hard work in that celebration!!!! I am so pumped for american distance running heading into the olys...alsal is the only coach who didn't take his athletes to burnout in europe for two months before worlds. has anyone ever heard of peaking. there are very few alan "always fast" webbs...
Well, how would YOU know?
Talk to any of the top 150 athletes in the world and they will all say they work harder than anyone else.
Congratulations to Goucher though. Heck of a run.
flotrack posted the post race interview with kara goucher..
HOWEVER, the race was SLOW. It is not above reason to think that Kara could run a good tactical race and finished 3rd, clean, running just over 32min, totally within herself. "Al Sal" said "so many athletes are running so fast that their performances are suspect." She didn't run fast, she ran smart.

Thank you Doc Stray-Gundersen for your help! Kara's performance bodes well for Adam and Rupp.
Well done Ms. Goucher. I also want to thank her for being, along with Reese Hoffa, the only 2 correct finishes I have made so far in the contest.
So how does this finish bode for Adam Goucher and Galen Rupp? Is this the mark of yet more things to come from this camp?
What with the people that don't acknowledge that her name has been changed for a pretty long time now?
just hate claims that certain athletes "work harder" than all the others at that level?? what exactly does that mean??more miles?? Congrats to kara though. what ever she is doing it worked today and hopefully for some time to come..not talking about drugs either..I think she is clean!
I wonder what else that AlSal-recommended sports psychologist helped her to find peace with.

Agreed, it's a BS alibi. Nobody gets to that level without working harder than they ever have before, including those who dope.
CONGRATULATIONS TO KARA GOUCHER!! I'm so damn proud of her. Now it's Adam's turn. GO GET 'EM ADAM!!!
poor Jo Pavery
:(

She hadn't worked as hard as Goucher so ended up 4th.
