Then again the original formulation by Lorenzo the Magnificent was fairly brilliant by local standards and deserved wider dissemination:

Read it? I participated in real-time.
So that's going to be our standard of banning: each post most directly address and advance the topic at hand, or else you're outta here? That'll be a pretty heavy handed form of moderation, and likely quite subjective just for good measure. To each his own, but that's not for me.
C'mon, if you're gonna be so humorless and defensive, you're not really gonna suddenly get the humor when someone explains the joke to you. Your question is disingenuous.
Fact is, some of the people find some of the posts funny at least some of the time. I'm not about to suggest the entire body of S&G's work be packaged and submitted for consideration to the Pulitzer committee, the genius grant people, MOMA or the Whitney Biennial. It's not that life-changingly brilliant. But I'm also not gonna suggest we have one person be the arbiter of what's funny and what's not; and if we did, you'd start pretty low on my list of candidates and would have to work real hard for my vote.
Nobody's requiring anything. The analogy would be, he's a regular who pokes fun at patrons with wildly mismatched or poorly fitting clothes. And let's move the setting from Denny's to a dive bar, which better represents the l-run universe.
So one evening he calls you on your plaid trousers which come down to mid-shin. You've got all kinds of possible responses including:
(a) laugh along with the rest of the crowd,
(b) ignore him (the "faggy fussbudget" comment above was pretty good),
(c) come back tomorrow night with properly fitting jeans,
(d) come back tomorrow night with a freaking stunning Italian suit or a tux,
(e) come back tomorrow night in a clown suit and red rubber nose, really get into the spirit of it,
(f) start a bar brawl,
(g) walk off steaming mad, come back weeks later and start threads about it, try to get some heavy-handed moderation imposed.
I'm gonna suggest even the bar brawl is more productive (and certainly more entertaining!) than the last option.
Let me remind you: this is an anonymous message board which does not (yet) even require registration. There's all kinds of stricter more heavily moderated running boards out there. Some people prefer them and won't come near l-run. If that's what you want, I'm not sure what's stopping you from participating in one of those communities rather than trying to radically change this one.
