Why isnt there federal oversight of the rescue efforts in Utah, seems that allowing the company who to try and rescue the workers is a bit out of place. The owner seems nuts and he is in charge ?

The owner is doing a great job WITHOUT messy government interference! He would never put people before profits.
Anyone watching this could see it happening again, the owner of th emioning operation isnt playing with a full deck.
"In the meantime, Keith Olbermann last night reported on the man in charge of federal mine health and safety, Richard Stickler. Stickler received a recess appointment by Bush over the objections of Democrats and mine worker/labor groups and Arlen Specter."
Keith Dobermann rants all the time and Arlen Spector is useless and has been around way too long.
The Dummycrats have tried to stymie ALL of Bush's appointments for no reason other than they are Bush's appointments.
Everything is Bush's fault, this line is getting old, tell us something new.
The Feds should be investigating to see if safety regulations were violated and/or laws broken. I doubt they know how to mount a better rescue operation, they can't even get a fence built.

Go back to look at your notes from American Government class. The "Democrats" or ANYONE from either party only have say over specific presidential appointees -- this does not apply to many of the people who have been screwing up. Furthermore, many of these appointments were made long ago - when the Rebuplicans were the majority in both houses, so you can spread the blame around a little ...
from
www.whitehouse/appointments/:
"Presidential appointments are an ongoing effort. Some of President Bush's appointments will require Senate confirmation. These appointments are for positions throughout the federal government, for the Cabinet and subcabinet, for members of regulatory commissions, for ambassadorships, for judgeships and for members of numerous advisory boards.
The President will also make many other political appointments that do not require Senate confirmation."
