I go out my garage door so I don't have to carry a key.
My only problem is that I live on a 55 mph state highway with narrow shoulders, in a very snowy area. So Jan-Feb and well into March I don't run from my house, since all in all I'd like to live many more years. Treadmill time.
I live in a valley, so like another poster, I can choose flat, rolling, very hilly, etc. when the roads are clear.
When I lived in a city I could go out my door any time of year, and quickly get to a good, usually plowed, park, but I didn't have the terrain choices that I do here.
The downside of running out the door as opposed to driving to a popular running site is that I don't have anybody to run with. At my old park there was always somebody else there. I've been at this place for 3 years and it was only last week that I saw another runner on the road.
