To say "Im going to win" when you're up against Geb pretty stupid.
Yeah, what an idiot! If he's confident enough, he should have kept it to himself. You just don't say that when you race against Haile.
"...I say bye bye" - Geb during post race interview.
I was really impressed with Geb's English. He speaks better than many "native born" Americans.
i watched it on a PC not a mac. It was good for me.
Congrats Abdi. he went in with the right attitude to take on a great runner like Haile.

Hi-lay.
Correct! Pronounciation is like stated in the response.
Haile in Amharic, the official and working language of Ethiopia, means "my power" Gebre means "the work/deed of" and Selassie means "Holy Trinity".
Ethiopian first and last names usually put together to from a message.
Geb, Abdi, and Hilda were very classy in their interviews. People like this are so important now, when the sports world is floundering in drug use and false records (Bonds). We need to highlight these people for our youth.

I don't think he said "I'm going to win." He just said he wasn't racing for second place. That's much different IMO.
Abdi had the right attitude going in, I don't think he said he's going to win, he said he believes he can win and he's going to race to win. We need more guys with that attitude. Abdi beat some big names today and got beat by one living legend.
Abdi's performance was more impressive to me than Ryan Hall's AR and it looks like Abdi will have a legitimate shot on the right course on the right day.
you're an idiot. Did he say he was going to win? No, he said he didn't come here to shoot for second place. Two completely different things.
Great race for Abdi, does this race have a net elevation drop? I think it does, but the first 5 miles have a lot of rolling hills. It doesn't seem like the fastest course out there. Abdi could look at sub-60 on the right course on the right day.
That webcast sucked ass.
No wonder running isn't popular, they didn't even show the damn race, just the fat joggers.

for what we did see...thank you. but please...PLEASE...is there anyone in the broadcasting industry with a shred of distance running knowledge. at the very least, can we not for the love of god learn to pronounce the athletes names? it would be like butchering Jordan's name over and over again. i don't know how many times I grimaced during the broadcast, pained. When Geb was on sub 60 pace the idiot said: "this is the fasted half marathon pace EVER on US soil!" Wrong. Hall's pace was faster at that point in the race. Geb closed better, but the basic ignorance of the announcers just makes me wince in pain.
once again, I'm grateful for what was shown. At least an attempt was made.
What is the threshold that separates a "hobbyjogger" from a "sub-elite" runner?
