what about cabata?!?!
what about cabata?!?!
Or what about Tim Broe if he gets healthy, or Jorge Torres, Galen Rupp, etc.?
Prefontaine
Craig Virgin
Goucher
Ritzenhein
Culpepper
Pat Porter
Josh McDougal
nasty top 7

Here it is, if I had to choose seven men to do the job at worlds.
1. Ryan Hall
2. Fam baby!
3. Abdi
4. Alan Culpeper
5. Ritz
6. Tegankamp
7. Goucher
Alternates: Meb, and Solinsky
Meb and Webb belong on there over Fam, but we don't have to cut anyone because teams consist of nine guys. Webb won't be more competitive in the 4-k since there isn't a 4-k any longer. My first alternate would be Torres.

NICE! I had thought about Virgin but completely overlooked Porter.

Maybe world xc could become and every other year type of thing like the track world champs? Would that get people more pumped about representing the country?
no other country in the world seems to have problems motivating their athletes to run world XCs. i can't imagine why the iaaf would care about getting more americans to participate.
that 7 looks pretty sick! I would throw Meb on there, take Teg out and have Torres and Rohatinsky as alternates. Solinsky is the man but a 12K cross race...I'd take those other guys. Hall, Ritz, and Goucher would be my pick for top 3

Maybe have world XC on the T&F WC off years?
Unlikely. That's when Indoor WCs are.

Fam is very, very average at XC.
In fact, I do not think he has ever made a World XC team.

I hate you. A lot.
no particular order
1. culpepper - consistancy, reigning US Champ
2. hall - killed everyone a two years ago
3. abdi - no explanantion needed although hasnt done much xc wise lately
4. ritz - europe cross performances
5. Webb - he would kill at cross
6. Teg - wildcard but should be good (club nats)
7. Meb - Knows how to race the africanos
i could easily replace abdi or teg with goucher.
...when in the IAAF world championships, you can enter up to NINE (after the 4k was eliminated)?
only reason I took Fam was because of him beating Abdi in the 8k champs, and also because he has a real kick ass attitude, he would wanna get the guys amped to do damage.I'll also never forget the 10k he and Ritz and Webb ran together, completely epic!

take out Fam and put in Jorge. and add Brian Sell as the first alternative. Meb is past his prime, let him run something else.
How good is Sell at Cross?
all of those cu pantywaisted alums have already backed down from the real fight - they would rather duke it out over $750 at the waffle house 3.7 mile road race.
I once returned a jacket out of spite.
he is a solid road racer, so i figure he would be good at XC cuz he doesnt just run around the track for a living. He finished 3rd at the XC nationals in like 2004. he's im proved alot.
Hmmmm... What did Hall place in the 10K US Champs, Track and Road? Ritz is just a plain ole pussy. Fam, well Fam just doesn't belong up there.
Add Solinsky, Meb, and Webb.
DONE.
