Wow. NYU men (again) beat the rest of the conference combined. They were also (in this meet) exactly five deep. (Website has a note that Phillips will return at Regionals, but you gotta wonder.) However, it's also true that NYU's sixth and seventh in this meet would have been scorers for any other team in the conference except second-place Carnegie. And, of course, it only takes five to win.
[That was really an outstanding race by the sometimes-overlooked Tartans, with all their scorers in the top 20. Nice job.]
Meanwhile, the Violet women had an embarrassingly terrible race. (Their first finisher came in after everyone else's SIXTH runner.) Is there any other college in the country, at any level, with a greater disparity (in either direction) in the competitiveness of its men's and women's squads? (That's actually a serious question.) What's the deal there?
Another look at the results shows me that the top x-c school (M & W) in the conference is Case? Has that been true for a while? I'd guess they have a shot at getting both teams to Nationals--will any other UAA school do that?
(Not NYU or Carnegie or Chicago or Rochester, evidently.) Nice meet for both Spartan squads.
