If one were to read your post here, it certainly sounds like you are agreeing with the original article you cited in that none of these guys are "serious medal contenders". Doesn't mean they won't make the final or have a chance at an upset medal, but certainly not favourites to pick up some hardware.

There's a difference between "not be forgotten" and "serious medal contender". Webb has shown he can run fast, but not necessarily faster than "serious medal contenders" in a championship race.

He is still learning and unpredictable.
So therefore not a "serious medal contender".
Nick S. is in the same boat... nobody knows what his future looks like. He could run 1:43's and b a potential medalist or he could not make it out of the U.S. trials.
So similarly, not a "serious medal contender". Plenty of guys fit that profile in the world.
