So if I am right, we got Lunn, Slattery, Lincoln, Gary, Torres, Meb, and Pepper. We are going to get smashed. Is Lincoln even running either; Haven't heard from him since USA's.

I am really looking for Culpepper to make the next jump. He's been in insane shape for the last 2 years and is fit enough to seriously mix it up in the finals. He seems to have done the work. Now, he just has to do it.
The WC/Olympic final 5K's are usually fairly slow (but not in 2001), which would allow Torres to sniff the leaders. He's a tough runner, but really no scenario will allow him to seriously contend. He cannot handle their fast pace and also has a lesser kick then much of the field.
A 'darkhorse' I hope to see perform well is Lunn. If the qualifying rounds show the majority above 3:40, then I hope his last 75m kick sneaks him into the finals. This slower pace is not likely, but it could happen. However, the first race where the majority are under 3:40, he either does not advance or is towards the back.
What events are El G. (1500m?) and Geb. (10K?) running?
Also, the person I most do not want to see make a final is El G.'s countryman. This is so El G. does not have a rabbitted race set up for him....especially in the 1500m if that is his event.
Geb has been named in the 5km and 10km. Bekele is named in only the 10km. Not sure about El G, I assume he is still entering the 5km and 1500m time trial.
The steeplechase is the only event we can even pretend to be competitive in and Dan Lincoln is our best shot just because we don't know for sure that he is toast (Slattery and Gary rab very slow in Stockholm!). So until someone figures out how Lincoln is doing or if he is even going, him and Krum remain our two prayers!
any marathoners going for u.s.? browne? khannouchi?
I bet El G wants to be the only Moroccan as well. He had a teammate in the 2000 Olympic 1500 final and the guy f---ed up his pace job (if that was indeed his job, and it suuuuure looked like that was the case). El G ended up losing.
But in 2001 World Champs El G did have a teammate in the final and it did look like he was setting the pace.
it seems like el g's pacers have f***ed quite a bit... they always seem to go like 54/1:55, or something like that, far from perfect rabbiting.
