Here's the problem Malmo. While the program obviously has some merit, you speak in tongues. You tell everyone to run as many doubles as possible during the summer, but then you say you only ran 50-70 per week in college? And this, despite having run 100-110 in high school? And then you point out Mahon et al as examples of how this works. But, surely, Mahon must have been way up into the 100s to get the extraordinary improvement within mere months? And you're saying that even with only running @ 60 miles per week one should double rather than do it in singles? Please clarify for the Dummies Guide for Distance Runners among us.
The problem is isn't that I'm 'speaking in tongues' it's that your head is up your ass and you can't possibly hear that way. What I've said is very clear. You can't, or won't process it. That's your loss, not mine.
I ran 'up to' 100-110' per week during the season in high school, generally 80-95. During the Summer I ran 'up to 150 miles in a single week' in high school, generally 30-40 miles.
In college, I ran 'up to 145 miles a week" during the season, generally 80-95. During the Summer i ran "up to 150 miles in a single week," generally 50-70 of easy running, although sometimes 2 or 3 tempo runs a week.
