i thought it was frickin' fantastic, though i'm pretty sure the ladyfolk were not fans of it.
what kind of gifts have you athletes most liked from NCAAs? It would be great to get some ideas out there to the NCAA host institutions.
I loved the red Nike bag from North Central in 2000. And the fold up chair. And the fleece throw.
I hated the crappy digital camera. Can't remember what year that was. And last indoor's mp3 player was no good either.
Let's critique your individual performance rather than begin a thread of critiquing what was given to you 'free'--the DIII guys from the 70's thru mid 90's never got anything but a pass to get into the meet for qualifying--what's next, giving sh** to the weather guy who said 'high winds and rain"
Yeah, get rid of the gifts and spend the money on better football facilities.
It is a special thing to make an NCAA meet. Why not talk about what free gifts you've enjoyed?
As for football and many other big time NCAA Division I sports, they are given a budget of $250 per athlete to choose what they would like. Teams vote amongst themselves and have gotten dvd players, playstations, etc...
So... the NCAA budgets $50 per athlete for D3 track. A far cry from $250 for making a bowl game and having the choice of gift.
Now, what else have people really enjoyed for gifts?
Check it most major bowls are allowed to give around 500 bucks worth of stuff per athlete, but that normally does not include things that do not have retail prices, such as the rose bowl watches and other such items.
I thought the bags at indoors this year were a very useful gift mostly the duffle, and yeah my bookbag ripped before i even left terre haute (if you have a laptop pocket, you should be able to hold a laptop with out breaking). As for the george formans, that is awesome I only wish I could have been there to get one.
One of the jumpers on my team came up with a great idea. Two person tents. Would have come in handy this weekend thats for sure.
Since when do people going to nats get free gifts? I graduated from a DII school back in the late 90s and didn't get squat.
I know that I got stuff in the late 90's and early 2000's.
98 cross at rim rock you got a cd case/gillete shaving kit. I know that I got plenty after that as well (Chair, book bag, leather laptop bag, normal laptop bag, wheeling suitcase, blanket, duffle bag and on and on).
2004 outdoor was a shitty digital camera, easy mac, and a bunch of other random crap from milliken's student store that they didnt/couldnt sell.
2005 indoor..don't remember.
2005 outdoor was a pretty handy backpack (still use it to this day) and some other stuff that i cant remember.
The USB stick we got in cross a couple years ago has been useful.
I heard the chancellor at UW-O wanted to give out logoed day glo condoms but the printers couldn't get them done on time.

Is that for hiding your Jpegs/Mpegs of "athletic massages"??
