What the hell happened to Lassiter? He starts out at WR pace (53/1:50), then fades to a 4:05. Ouch!! He's as crazy as Jennings.

Great Rewards don't come without great risks being taken. Do I think those splits are a bit ambitious? Heck, yeah! BUT, everytime I've seen Lassiter race, it is with a big kick at the end. So, although things didn't work so well this time, I am glad to see him trying a different approach that will help him down the road when he masters it, and I sure bet he at least made things interesting for 900-1000m. This is more than a lot of guys have done lately. Remember BK and McMullen in the Olympics? At least they took the lead!
Anyway, if SL would have run 3:46, there would be 3 doping threads going by this evening.
You're right, though... 1:50 en route to 4:05 = OUCH!
3:46?
It was a 1500, not a mile, making it an even bigger ouch!
I think you might have thought it was a mile based on your post-it was a 1500-so even more of an ouch.
He was pacing Lagat. So much for pride in representing the U.S. I hope he doesn't get picked again.
I'm a little more disappointed about Lagat. What does he need a pacer for anyway? Guess he's just trying to be like El Guerrouj.
On seeing that Lagat was the leader at 1200 after Lassiter went through the first 800 as the leader in such a fast time, my guess was that perhaps Lagat was hoping to take a good shot at a WR and got Lassiter to rabbit.
Read my thread and you'll see what happened!!
Yikes... That is a major OUCH... well, at least he finished.
I think he did that at the Nebraska indoor meet, too.
Thanks, Tracker, for the scoop. I'm disappointed.
