Bench max - 100 lbs...with a spotter...;^)
Bench max - 100 lbs...with a spotter...;^)
In high school after working out 3 days a week at the end of the season and weighing about 105 pounds, I benched 195 pounds. Couldn't get 200 to save my life, and I'm sure I can't do that now either even though I weigh more.
No boys it's true. Chris Zinn verified it for me. Don't know where you get this pathological liar stuff. Do you even know the guy? Believe me, he was SUPER STRONG. Hated to lift with that guy- always made me too sore for the next day on the track.
I was a measly buck 35 did one rep of 205 thanks to the sprinters who would do that weight about 8-10 times!
It seems to me that events such as 800 to 1500 do require some upper body strength so lifting (circuit-training) is important. As for the 5 and 10 and higher, the body types of the best don't seem to be able to do much with their upper body. Frankly, if a person can't bench their weight, they are either out of shape, or have a body type I don't want to have, even if it would make me a great 10K runner.

That's a pretty general statement. I've always thought being in shape had to do more with cardiovascular health than lifting. Guess most football players are in better shape than me, 4:30 mile, 16 pull-ups, 25+ inch vertical and all--just cause i can't push a lousy bar of my chest.
i weigh 135 and can bench 190...but im more proud of my dip record. i can do 50 plus dips in a row. i used to take on the football players in the weight room, i could atleast pick the exercise!
Kartelite, if you can do 16 chin-ups, I would be extremely surprised if you could not bench your weight. Extremely. If you can do 16 chin-ups you can probably do 16 dips, and that would mean you can more than bench your weight.
When I was in 6th grade and weighted 80lbs, i was able to bench 250lbs...duh....I ran a mile in under 4:01 minutes...duhh...
Actually, I've got relatively good bicep muscles so I can do 16 chinups (at least), but I've always had a problem with the bench press. As an example, I've got friends whom I can whip in arm wrestling but who can spit out sets of my one-rep bench max.
As far as dips, I've never maxed out on them, but I started my tricep workout the other day with a set of 12, so 16 is probably close to my max on that. I'm also decent on a lot of the chest exercises, but for some odd reason I can't bench my weight. (At the beginning of this summer, I used to be able to bench what I weigh now, if that counts for anything, lol).
How many pullups can Hicham do?
