i doubt very many people will double ten and five
i doubt very many people will double ten and five
In years past a lot of people have doubled in the 10 and 5. The 5k is basically the last event, so why not run it if you've qualified?
I got to see Leers indoor win in the mile but man it was tight with Butzler right on him the entire way...I was expecting Butzler to have a better outdoor campaign...does anyone one know whats happened to him?...injured? burned out? focusing on hammer?
Joslyn in both the 5k and 10k, if he does them both (which I think he will).
i have a feeling leer is going to do the 1500 5k double much like he did indoor except mile/5k. And my personal feeling about the 5k is that if it weren't for the move that Kaul made to string the field out at about 2 miles, Leer would have won because he was gradually working his way through the field and wasn't too far behind joslyn.
Fast 5k assuming he runs it he is screwed, but another slow race is his even if it is slow.
Not a lot of respect for NYU...especially after one of their guys dropped a 14:12. It seems as though they have started to prove themselves on the national scene after choking a couple years back.
I'm going with Chris Erichsen from Saint John's University in the steeple. He's only ran it 3 times ever. The first time he ran it he ran 9:18.10, the next time he went 9:05.84. His third time he took 4th at Drake in 9:03.84 and went from 11th to 4th in the last lap. He also took 4th in the 5k at indoor nats.
Exactly my thoughts. That Kosgie guy ran a 9:12 in his second steeple ever; Erichson ran a 9:05 auto in his 2nd steeple. Give the kid credit where credit is due; Erichson ftw at nats.
yes, but didnt erichsen run the steeple last year as well? I am trying to figure out where this kenyan guy appeared from at Hamilton? Is he an exchange student? If the school is giving him full financial aid, then that amounts to a scholarship however you want to "count it"

Erichsen didn't run the steeple until this year. He was a 1500/800 guy who did the 5k once or twice.
Rumor is that there are 3 more Kenyans ( 2 men, one women) coming this year. All 3 faster than Kosegei.
Well thats kinda ridiculous(if true). Why Hamilton? I mean, its a good school and all, but this seems a bit cheap?
Also, the woman is faster then Kosegei? NCAA record keepers better watch out then...
How exactly does it seem cheap? Tons of schools recruit strong international students (my school boasts about all the countries it has represented in its--quite small--student body all the time); in our modern multi-cultural world it only make sense to have as much cross-cultural exchange as possible. My guess is these foreign students are going to Hamilton for the academics first (and why Hamilton you may ask, as opposed to any other good school--well, maybe Hamilton's admissions staff recruited them the hardest, or has taken a few students from their school[s] in the past, or offered them great financial aid packages) and the running is just a bonus (and, obviously, if they are as good as rumor has it, then it is of course a bonus to Hamilton, too). But I fail to see how that is cheap in any way.
As for D-III nationals, go Will Leer. 1500/5000m double! And Zerzan in the 5000m (and 10000m, too, if she gets a qualifier). West Region represent!
what does everyone think the cut offs for nats will be?
5k-14:42?
10k-30:49?
As an athlete the competes against Hamilton on a semi-regular basis, I don't have any issue with them bringing in Kenyans (I'm guessing). It does seem a bit odd to be bringing so many in, but thems the breaks, maybe the rest of the conference will have to shape up to stay competitive. I'd love to see the conference get back to being super competitive on the national scene (Cortland and Geneseo are certainly pitching in, maybe Hamilton can too?)
Shamus Nally FTW in teh 10k
BH-BL o baby
What kind of times did Toni Wiszowaty run in high school, when I went looking I did not find anything too good compared to her current ability
I'd watch out for Letts of Haverford in the 10000. He's been coming on really strong recently. Good, smart racer too.
Probably more like
14:35, check the list, alot of guys qualified the 2nd and 3rd weekends of may last year.
30:37, there are really only a few places left that people try to qualify, IC4A and All New England.
Steeple- 9:17 guess that might be the cut off as well.
Events might go pretty deep this year with alot of doublers in the sprints, jumps, 800/1500 and 5k/10k, which will add to the depth of each event. An athlete only counts once no matter how many events they enter, per ncaa numbers.

Team tactics will play a role in the outcome of the 10k. If a fast pace is set, NYU should benefit. Abdallah always seems to hang onto any pace set but never outkicks anyone. Phillips has had top times indoor and out, those guys could work together. Altough NYU had 3 guys in the indoor 5k, including 1st and 3rd ranked Abdallah and Phillips, and did not manage to work together at all. A slow pace should benefit Joslyn and Cloke who have strong finishing speed. Definatly watch out for Haverford with 3 guys under 30:30, possibly they could push the pace. Sigl will likely be top 3 with a shot to win if he can break people before the last K.
