Not *trying* to be a troll, but I suppose this is pretty trollish...
Just curious how schools like Arcadia High School and Penn can host two of the most amazing meets each year, but somehow performances on these school's own teams are well... not to hurt anyone's feelings, but I don't know, not that fast? Not as fast as I would expect for a school where track & field is obviously valued. No slam intended on these programs. They put together truly GREAT track meets.
Stanford (as much as I hate them) and Oregon, both host some great meets, but that doesn't seem to keep the staff from fielding outstanding athletes capable of competing in the fast heats at their own meets. Even MtSac I think has a few pretty fast guys on their team from time to time.
How come Penn's DMR doesn't run 9:40, the 4x800 in 7:30? How come Arcadia doesn't ever seem to have a guy run 4:13 in the mile, or a girl run 2:10 in the 800? Did this happen and I just missed it? That's highly possible.
Any theories?
