waht is the fastest 100m sector ever done?
possibly micheal johnsons 200m WR?
that last 100m must of been around 9.4-9.5
anyone know?

Alan Webb's split in the 1500 meter World Championship final. I believe it was from 900 to 1000 meters and he covered the distance in 7.8. Watch the video and time it yourself.
don't know who it was, but I'd bet it was the end of a 4 x 100m
I don't know that you could even know this. I mean looking at one race, like Johnsons 200m, you'd have to essentially look at an infinite number of possibilities for 100m sectors. Assume that we know that the fastest 100m sector was run in this race by Johnson (not realistic to think that we could assume this, but just illustrating the point). Did the fastest 100m occur from 100m to the finish? From 90m to 190? from 85.4 to 185.4?

yeah that's what he's asking dummy
He's asking what the fastest 100m ever run is. So, yeah, that is what he's asking.

So you agree. Why are you throwing second grade insults at me then?
because you just restated his question
good thread so far
It definitely was not in Johnson's 200. I know Carl Lewis split 8.9 a couple of times in the 80's at the end of a 4x1. Pretty effin sick.
According to "The Complete History of the Summer Olympics" by David Wallechinsky, Johnson went...
10.02 first 100
9.30 second l00
Greatest book I've ever owned. Heck, it's 1000+ pages and I read it on the beach!
I believe Donovan Bailey had a 8.97 split at the 1995 WC's in Gothenburg in the 4x100...I can't remember the exact citation for this but I think you might be able to find this in the Running times or Runner's World coverage of the event...I got rid of all my old magazines a few years ago, otherwise I'd check.

It was 10.12 and 9.20 from where I've looked. MJ wasn't THAT fast out of the blocks. A 10.02 off a curve would be worth a 100m WR or close to it on a straight.
Michael Johnson's 100m split from 50m to 150m was 8.76secs.
This is the fastest 100m split ever. It should be noted that Johnson was already at maximum speed when he started this split, unlike the top relay runners, such as Bailey or Lewis, who only have a 20m acceleration zone before they start their 'split'.
Glenroy Gilbert split 8.92 at Atlanta when Canada won the 4x100m.
from 40-140 meters in his WR Johnson was like 8.88 or some crazy shit like that

No. I said that I think it would be impossible to to know. You quoted me as saying such.
it was some american footballer who ran 6.63 when he was doing that 40m thing and just kept going. he never ran quicker than 10.9 with a proper gun, track, spikes and proper timing, but that's because the atmosphere of these 40m thingummyjigs is just so special it makes footballers superhuman.
i think it's a good question - although i do see harry kooter's point. there are an infinite number of 100m sections within a 200m, so there is maybe no definitive answer. maybe bob hayes in his famous 4x100 leg?
Bernard Williams split 8.83 in a 4 x 100 in 2003.
