I'm a senior in high school. This past winter, I averaged about 65 miles a week. When spring started, I ran 60 for a week, 65 for three weeks, and the past three weeks I have run 70. Basically, all of my long runs are at about 6:40 pace. I don't feel ridiculously over worked, however, I have been having trouble sleeping the past few days, which, I've read, is a symptom of over training. When I get home from practice, I'm tired, but once my head hits the pillow, I get really restless. I bring this up, because I ran a race today, a 4:47 mile and a 10:24 2 mile; my PRs from last year were 4:45 and 10:10. I feel like part of my poor performance in the 2 mile was due to the fact that I didn't eat or drink anything in between the two races, however, I felt like I should have done much better, in the 4:40/10:0x ranges. Should I back off a little bit, or am I just expecting too much from myself early in the season.
