He was never an "ex"-con this was simply another "con" in a long series of cons.
whats your fastest mile time?
his name is Jim Hogue....he has been the subject of more than one special report on HBO and 60 minutes. He was a genius and a decent runner. Still in jail, I think.
Check out the Walpole State Prison Yard Runners Club. Bunch of current cons putting in some miles behind bars.
no, this James Hogue is not the guy...
I'm looking for a guy much younger & who was locked up in Oregon (stole froma pizza joint in Eugene) & went & lived w/ a noted coach( in Eugene) & wanted to qualify for the 2006 trials & he ran respectable in many races but did not make it...
Jay Bird
Jonathan Gill
Thanks...
Faster than Gill, and I'm not trying to "con" anyone into thinking that I'm something that I'm not.

did he end up making it?
what where his times???
another one of those 'underdog shooting for the Olympics" stories....they pop up every Olympic cycle and never amount to anything. The only time mentioned in the whole article was a 4:17 mile he ran years ago. The rest is all "potential" talk. Move on, nothing to see here.
There was an article in the LA Times in 2004 about a 41 year old grandmother that was hoping to make it to Athens in the marathon; never mind that her best time was 2:57 or something like that. She was really 'going for it' and an inspiration to all her kids and co-workers....oh brother....these stories are always done by some gullible reporter, not familiar with the sport.
Jon gave it a shot and didnt have what it took to become a great runner. Many thought he had great potential however.
After his running dream burned out he moved to Minnesota and became a professional juggler. He even started his own juggling club.
