I've noticed that relative to other runners at my level (15:40 5k ish) I have a rather high heart rate but a low breath rate. Speaking in a physiological sense, why is this? Do I have a large lung capacity but my cardiovascular system is not very developed yet?
Also, what types of training will help me the most knowing this? I've come to the conclusion that I need more mileage and longer long runs. Is this correct?
