Hall probably needs a bit more speed. Maybe he should try to get at least a 3:55 mile under his belt. At one time people thought he was going to be a 1500 meter runner. He never got under 3:40 in college.
hall may run the track 10k.

Flagpole, if you were Hall\'s coach, what would you say to Hall after his Half, and after his 15k? I\'m genuinely interested.
I may answer that ones.
After the HM i would say \"you did your HM PB and your best performance ever the one that you do once in a lifetime\" and after the 15k \"didn’t i said to you that you will never repeat that fabulous HM performance ever?\"
t-rex stole that bit about sports hero's being human from the batman, if you are going to write a post like that, at LEAST give a nod to the man you steal your ideas from pal:

posted in late february, saying essentially the same thing about dathan that t-rex said about hall.
What a bunch of incomprehensible gibberish that runnation Ritzenhein article was! Not only do you come across as some kind of Ritzenhein stalker, but it almost sounds like you have some type of bizarre Ritzenhein fetish. Only in your dreams could you think ANYONE would willfully steal lines from your dreck. Seriously, leave the writing to the pros, dude.

You should stop writing too while we're at it, jackass.
Best post I've ever read on this board patti.

pretty sappy way to plug your own site dude.
this should be halls attitude
-samuel borchers
“It's scary – the first race of the season – you don't know where you are,” said Borchers, who hasn't had
any serious track competition this winter. “I've run a couple of small races and my best time this year is
around 4:26. I'm a racer, not a time-trial guy. I came out on the last lap and I said, 'Okay, I can do this!'”
And he did. Second was the Ethiopian-born Taye in 4:15.75 with Hubers a very close third in 4:15.78.
Borchers is fun to watch. Races a lot like See did in high school. Just sits in the pack and then runs away from everyone else when the time is right. The other advantage is that you rarely go out too fast so you always race well.
Of course this will piss people off who go to the state meet this year expecting him to run a 3:58 1600.

I wasn't plugging anything, I just think you're a jackass.

ttc wrote:At the time that Todd ran his 15K record, he would've run a great marathon. Everyone knows he moved up way too late and far past his prime. Usually a very good marathoner will be able to run a high quality 15K. KK's a rare exception, but beyond him there aren't many.
Actually when Williams ran his 42:22 or whatever, he was in the prime of his track career, cranking out 13:15's and 27:30s. There is very little sustainable evidence he could have been a sub-2:10 marathoner the year he sat his 15K American record. Only in your youthful, know-it-all dreams, ttc. Carlos Lopes began his marathon career well after Williams did, and the results were none too shabby.
Whether T-Will could have been a better marathoner or not ... will not change the FACT that there is a correlation between 5k/10k/15k running and marathoning.
I would say that when someone shows great talent at the 5k/10k over time and then "underperforms" in the marathon, it is almost always an example of "hitting it wrong". Could be the wrong time, wrong race, too old, just not as good as when they ran good times at 5k/10k ... etc.
I could give you over one hundred examples of good 10k'ers running good 5k/10k's within a couple months (or handful of days) but I will just give the highlights since I have written this dozens of times ....
And BTW, the "link" between a great 15k/marathon is even stronger since it is much closer in physiological demands than the 5k/10k/marathon.
Try these on ...
Shorter 27:51 AR, 2:12 Gold medal (same week)
Lopes 13:16 PR, 27:17 2nd AT, 2:09 Gold medal (within month)
Treacy 13:16 PR, 2:09 PR silver medal (within month)
Salazar 27:30 PR, 2:08 Boston 9 days later
Meyer 27:53 PR, 2:09 Boston (12 days apart?)
Tergat 12:49/2:04
Gebrselassie 12:39/2:05
Jon Brown 27:18/2:09
Pinto 13:02/2:06
There are lots of others who were WClass at 5k/marathon in different eras ...
Dixon 3:33, 13:17, 2:09
Quax 13:12, 2:10
Nyambui 13:12/2:09
The fact is that success at 5k/10k is MORE OFTEN THAN NOT a good predictor of success at the marathon. When someone underperforms notably it is usually some other factor than their ultimate potential at the distance.
A good modern example is Ritzenhein. Anyone who believes that 2:14 is the best he is IN 2006 doesn't know running. If healthy, he should be at 2:09 and under on almost any course based on the 5k, 10k and XC racing he has done the last few years.

That doesn't take away from you being a jackass. Everything else running related is advertised here as well. Get a clue.
ummmmm......no.
I think we've learned of Flagpole Willy's true colors. Poor guy should stick to something he does know, because running is obviously not his forte.
Flagpole, you really need to stay away from making comments like these. People always dig them up and rub your face in it. Way to go Ryan!
prepare for flagpole's LONG, mea culpa to be posted on a SEPARATE thread to gain maximum attention on monday.
you all will buy into his BS. back peddling and make him more RELEVANT then he is, and ever WAS.
