you can't just redshirt to preserve eligibility in the ivy league- you have to be able to prove you had some kind of medical issue keeping you out.

Where is it this year?
They are doing away w/ "Heps" because they kicked Navy out? Did Navy leave b/c the girls team was not even close to competive? The guys were. Nice DMR this weekend BTW. Maybe it has something to do with ultra-liberal AD's. Columbia's got a great one - if you like Rosie O'Donnell.
Why is Cornell good track but not in XC?
I thought Navy just didnt want to be in it anymore, wanted to move a more geographical league. the men were decent up until the year Navy left. and they had a girl who finished top 3 at heps xc and ran a 16:30ish 5000...
im pretty sure they were forced out. rojo and wejo at one point had a bit of a crusade to keep them in, but no progress was made. i dont think they voulenteered to leave. too bad.
you can redshirt if you plan to go on to run at another grad school that's not in the ivy league. does everyone understand? what is so hard about this...
four consecutive years starting with enrollment as a freshman ONLY in the ivy league UNLESS you petition for more due to medical problems
five years to complete four years of total eligibility in THE REST of the ncaa d1
Alternatively, you can take a year off from school, and come back within your five-year clock.
Or so I have heard.

Paul Morrison ran for Texas after graduating from Princeton.
Amber McGown ran one year for Oregon after Cornell.
Another Cornell grad (female) is currently running for Duke.
I believe one of Columbia's mid-D runners (female) is currently running for another D-1 school.
and wejo ran at texas.
Rojo and Wejo have nothing to do with who stays in the Heps and who doesnt. Its the ADs. The AD at Navy (which was competing in both Patriot and Heps) decided that it would be more favorable for the Academy to compete in the PAtriot league where their natural rival (Army) competes, and where they thought they could mop up titles like crazy.
Most Ivy coaches (im sure including Rojo) wanted Navy in, but it wasnt up to them in terms of the final decision.
oh really? i recall lannana redshirting dennis webster one season because he was taking 3 engineering courses that quarter at dartmouth...

However, with Navy in Heps it makes the school look like it is on a higher academic level than its rival or Patriot league schools. The rivalry w/ Army can be continued in a dual meet. Heps is a more competitive conference, it is sad that our acadamies would want to dodge the comp. How is that preparing them for the future?

Actually if you redshirt early, then have a serious medical issue, you can peititon for a second "medical" redshirt year. Or if you are Morman you can go travel and save souls for a few years and come back and compete in your mid-20s.

I predict galebach takes down the 1000, mile, 3k and 5k! Kid is an unreal buzzsaw and I say he dominates. Unless Cardenes is in the race. Things might get complicated if he is.
BZZZZZZZZZZ
I believe David Nightengale would have a thing to say about that in the mile.
1 Nightingale, David Princeton 4:07.13
2 Maag, Michael Princeton 4:07.94 3 Galebach, Tim Harvard 4:09.04

actually nightengale ran 4.03 and 8.00 earlier this season
Those results above are head-to-head from this weekend. I heard Nightengale just cruised till the last 200.
Nightengale can think he's no.1 in the hood, but the buzzsaw was barely even sweating. He uses these races as morning runs (ref: heps xc 2006). When he starts running everyone else is going for second.
"When I run I am full of questions. Who will be second? Who will be third?"

yeah he was competing for OREGON not for DARTMOUTH, smart ass
Man when I read the thread title of "indoor heps predictions" I was expecting predictions... not a recycled discussion Ivy League eligibility.
Get the thread back on topic.
What will Maag and Nightingale run? What's up with Wyner? Will True make an appearance (that's the rumor).
Not enough snow in Hanover for XC skiing for True?
Clear cut favorite, Hurtault in 400. That's an easy one.
On the women's side, is Scherf still injured?
I think so. She didn't race at HYPs. I hope she gets back to competing soon to mix it up!!
Why would True show up?
So Dartmouth gets at least 5 points? Whats the point...
