So my old clunker of a car has finally died and i'm thinking of getting a Jetta. I'm moving overseas in about a year, so I want something that won't depreciate too much. I found a 2001 with 54K for 7,200 (5spd manual). The blue book says about 7,900 for "good" condition. I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with these - mostly reliability (don't want to shell out for any major repairs although i realize this is always a risk with used cars) and resale. As i said i'll need to sell it in a year or so. I ride my bike to work through most of the spring and fall and only drive about 10k miles per year, so hopefully i won't rack up a ton of miles before then. Before anyone says it, yes i do need a car even though work is within biking distance - i live in a city with pretty poor public transportation and need to go to the supermarket, friend's places, weekend trips, the airport, etc. and i don't care if you think jettas are gay!
any input is appreciated
thanks
