Ed. - you impressed me most about 2-3 years ago when you ran a 37:00 minute 10km road race in Ontario - I found that more impressive than your marathon time, because speed tends to go before endurance.

By the way, I think Ed. could be even better at shorter distances if he ran half of what he does or less, and did some training on the exercise bike instead of running.

Thank you. I am sure that you hear this a lot; but regardless: you are an inspiration. I am a barely sub-three marathoner, and hope to improve as middle age progresses. Your training methods (which seem to tend toward Lydiard, in essence) also serve to fortify others who simply like to run.
I keep only a small list of heroes (Eamonn Coghlan, Bill Rodgers, and Phil Carret--a business hero--among them). You also are on that list.
Running is a great sport, and one of the few where, at times, one can look forward to--or at least accept--getting older (at least we amateurs).
