What an asinine comment. WTF does that mean, never the same? Alberto ran 13:11 for 5000m and 27:25 for 10,000m AFTER winning Boston. The world records were 13:06 and 27:22 when he recorded his bests.

I'm just a hack runner, but made a point of standing next to Deek the morning he ran his 2:07. Although he looked huge in pictures, he really wasn't that big a guy. I remember being blown away by his training logs.
It was a day when marathons were on ABC, the only channel I got at the time, so it was great to watch.
