We should also end women's suffrage.
Thats hysterical
stinkin granola heads
Whats really funny is the fact that Hydrogen Dioxide is NOT water. Hydrogen Dioxide is HO2 not H20.
Nice try morons.

Listen closely, "Dihydrogen Monoxide".
The Di is redundant when referring to hydrogen compounds. Why not be completely disingenuous and call it DHMO or Hydric Acid.
Stupid unoriginal unfunny stunt.
Speaking of Penn and Teller...anyone see the "Aristocrats"? Hilarious joke!!!!
Alan
It wasn't a chemistry lesson, O'Flaherty. It was a lesson in human nature. Figure it out.
Human nature? what? that its easy to deceive otherwise well intentioned people with half truths and a blonde in a bikini?
WOW what a valuable lesson. Thanks for sharing.
Not.
Blonde in a bikini? Did you even watch the video???

Because water is not an acid water is neutral

If you signed the petition, just say so. no, the lesson is that do-gooders have a herd mentality, a clinical narcicism, and a fascist impulse to order the lives of their lessers.

Really is that why H2S is commonly referred to as dihydrogen sulfide?
You're trying too hard here to sound smart. So what if your everyday festival-goer doesn't know the name for the chemical compound of water? Should they have asked what it was? Probably, but that doesn't make it any less duplicitous, or completely innocuous for that matter.Wrong-doers and do-gooders alike have a herd mentality, don't kid yourself pal.Phrases like "clinical narcicism" (sic) and "fascist impulse" are completely irrelevant and, quite frankly, don't fit in your argument here. Six out of ten for trying to sound like you have any idea what you're talking about.

"...but that doesn't make it any less duplicitous, or completely innocuous for that matter." And I'm the one trying too hard to sound smart? There are two dynamics at work here. First, these people think they "get it" while others don't, thus the eagerness to sign something they don't understand. Did you notice the curt dismissiveness of the one lady who thought the interviewer was going to try to explain some nuance of environmental destruction to her? Secondly, it's a very short step from believing that if you're amongst the sage and annointed, you have no only a right, but an obligation, to tell others how to live. Their first and best impulse was to ban. Not vote, research, plan, brainstorm -- just ban it. As to your other point, which is that almost everyone slips into the herd mentality, you're right. This example happened to be enviros, but it could have just as easily been jimmied toward gun owners, MADD, foster parents, or dolphin lovers.
"Not vote, research, plan, brainstorm--just ban it."
Honestly, is this the setting for any of these things? Not even close. Don't things (petetions) necessarily have to acquire the requiste number of signatures before they even could come to a a vote? How about they didn't want to be hassled by this lady so they just signed, what was a completely worthless petition, as most are, so they could enjoy their day like they intended to.
Don't pigeonhole everyone who signs a petition as fascists or "narcicist" because they don't have the wherewithall to stop everything they were doing before they were interrupted and have a good old-fashioned debate about it.
These people were clearly headed somewhere when this lady affronted them, they signed something, now they are fascists. Interesting logic.
How about I head an agenda to ban the chemical compound of gunpowder at an NRA convention? I'd get three times as many signatures.
I would have signed anything that blonde stuck in front of me.
There's your lesson in huMAN nature.
Your last sentence is exactly the point I made earlier. As to your idea that they signed simply to avoid being hassled, that's asinine. First of all, if someone with whom I want no contact talks to me, I keep going. I don't stop, look at what they are carrying, listen to them, and sign. Let me be clear -- I just keep walking. Secondly, do you think if the interviewer had said, "I have a petition here to deport all Muslims" that they would have signed it just to avoid being hassled? They eagerly attached themselves to some trendy feel good cause while having no idea what it was. It made them feel important.
"I have a petition here to deport all Muslims."Exactly. If she would have said, "I have petition here to ban all water," the reaction would have been different. That's exactly why it was duplicitous. She was trying to fool them. Call it a study of human nature if you want, but it is little more than verbal trickery.Obviously, you're not going to agree with me, and I don't want to turn this into a Flagpole Willy, "I'm right and I'm not budging" scene so let's agree to disagree. You're entitled to your opinion and I respect that. To each his/her own.
